Russia is Freezing: Heating Collapse and Infrastructure Crisis
Russian cities suffer from the failure of heating systems in conditions of severe frosts. People face extreme cold exceeding -22 degrees without heating. Russia's failure to address problems of its own critical infrastructure is another consequence of Putin's aggression: a shortage of specialists mobilised for the war and a lack of technology due to international sanctions. How Putin cannot cope with problems inside Russia – find out in our news story.

Ukrainian drones blow up Moscow power station and hit Crimea in revenge for Russian missile strikes
Ukraine unleashed a barrage of drones against Russia overnight in revenge for massive Kremlin missile attacks against Kyiv’s territory. A power station in Moscow was hit, leaving parts of the capital without electricity as temperatures plunged to -27C in the middle of the night. Belgorod, a city close to the border, was also hit multiple times along with Saky airbase, which is located in Crimea.
Unconfirmed reports suggested five senior commanders were killed in the Saky raid, but it is not yet clear whether this is correct.

Putin Welcomes China's Xi to Kremlin During Moscow Visit
Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to the Kremlin on Tuesday.
Xi's trip — his first abroad since his re-election earlier this month — showed off Beijing's new diplomatic swagger and gave a political lift to Putin just days after an international arrest warrant was issued for the Kremlin leader on war crimes charges related to Ukraine.
Both Moscow and Beijing have accused Washington of trying to isolate them and hold back their development as they challenge it for regional and global leadership.
In an increasingly multipolar world, the U.S. and its allies have been unable to build a broad front against Putin.
While 141 countries condemned Moscow in a United Nations vote marking the first anniversary of Russian troops rolling into Ukraine, severa...

Cold war: Russians freeze as attempts to break Ukraine's infrastructure massively backfires
Russian cities have lost power, heating and water supplies as Putin’s campaign to cripple Ukraine’s infrastructure backfires. A massive electricity outage in the Siberian city of Omsk left more than one million people without any electricity. Meanwhile an ‘accident’ at the Tavricheskaya substation, close to Omsk, on January 4th ruptured a hot water pipe which Russia uses to heat homes without the pipe freezing. That left people without any central heating as temperatures plunged below freezing.
Residents in Moscow were also left without any heating as temperatures plummeted to -25°C (-13°F) after more water pipes burst. People desperately tried to keep themselves warm by burning what appears to be furniture and pieces of wood. To make matters worse, a central heating pipe laid down in Novo...

While 141 countries condemned Moscow in a United Nations vote marking the first anniversary of Russian troops rolling into Ukraine, several members of the G-20 — including India, China and South Africa — abstained. Many African nations also have refrained from openly criticizing Russia.

To make matters worse, a central heating pipe laid down in Novosibirsk in 1974 cracked and flooded the city. In Khimki, just 10 miles (16km) from the Kremlin, 215 apartment buildings, eight schools, 17 kindergartens and four hospital clinics had no heating or hot water in freezing temperatures for over a week.
